Out to Lunch – Downtown Missoula

2010 June 29

Out to Lunch is celebrating their 25th year in Downtown Missoula. Twenty-five years of food and live music in the park. What a wonderful thing.

One of the first summers I spent in Missoula, I remember walking down the sidewalk headed to Caras Park in Downtown Missoula. The sun was high over the mountains, the river flowed nearby, I could hear live music playing, and I remember thinking to myself: what a great place to live. (or even visit for that matter)

I went to the first Out to Lunch of the 2010 season on June 1st. It was a rainy, drizzly day but that didn’t detour people from coming out to enjoy the food and live music. On warm and sunny days, the picnic tables and stands are filled with people and the grass in front of the stage is filled with kids and adults alike dancing and swaying to the music.

On this day, as you will see in the video, there was one little girl who did not let the rain keep her from moving to the music of Andrea Harsell. The “dancing couple” of Missoula were also committed to their traditional appearance at Out to Lunch.

The video is a sampler of the first Out to Lunch of 2010. If you find yourself in Missoula on a Wednesday this summer, be sure to head to Caras Park for lunch and live music!

Coming up: An interview with Linda McCarthy, the Executive Director of the Missoula Downtown Association at Downtown ToNight.
